Currimar is a traditional cannery based in Xove, in the Lugo province, Galicia, Spain.
This region’s inhabitants have enjoyed a sensational fishing and preserve-making tradition for centuries.
Our mission is helping the whole world to delight in this tradition.
Our name, “Currimar” comes from “Curricán”, or trolling (fishing with a rod), and “mar” (sea).
We are proud to say we only select the finest Albacore “Thunnus alalunga”,
fished one by one by trolling.
Moreover, we only select the very best octopuses, exclusively “Octopus vulgaris”
which has been captured with traps, as well as other exquisite seafood.
This environmentally-friendly capture, bound to biological cycles,
guarantees sustainability and avoids overexploitation.
In our hand-made manufacture we only use natural,
healthy preservatives like olive oil, sea water and pickling brine.
Furthermore, these elements guarantee the preservation
of fresh fish and seafood’s best properties.
For example, polyunsaturated fats such
as our Albacore’s omega-3, are essential to balance
cholesterol and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
We owe our preserves’ unique sea-flavour to the quality of our products.
We accentuate them by only using delicately-flavoured natural ingredients.
Our ready-made dishes are based
in north Spain’s traditional maritime recipes.
